The fierce look that security guards was giving you, the loud cracking sound that came from the ongoing constrcution of the green building, and the sweet voices from college students and lab schoolers as they passed by the corridors. These were the usual episodes you'll experience when you enter the most progressive state college in town, the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) in Talisay City.
Lead by the current SUC President, Dr. Renato M. Sorolla, CHMSC had already risen from being a once school of nobody into a top government property among the SUCs. All right, don't get me wrong about saying the "school-of-nobody" because everybody believed and even heard students from other schools about saying that CHMSC is a no-star. Some had even slapped it right to our faces, right CHMSCIANS? But this time, we'll prove them wrong. And together, let's show them what CHMSC has now become. But to top it all, let me share these "tiny bit of information" about my Alma Mater and why it still has my heart even today.
1. Environment (Particularly the field and the preserved-green sceneries)
I'm always particular with green colors. Basically, because it is my favorite one, not that I'm a green-minded person and all, but because I always thought that green colors give refreshment to the soul. Sounding too dramatic? Okay. back to the field of CHMSC. It is a truly wide one. Wide enough to be the field sponsor of some big football events in the Negros Island Region (NIR). Aside from the soccer stuff, it also serves as the heart of this Alma Mater as it is said that this is mainly the setting that every CHMSCIANS has always been proud of. If there is one that it symbolizes, it would be: CHMSCIANS endless dreams. Dreams as wide as this field is open to every new possibilities.
2. Administration Building (Home of great staff! Ahem)!
If there is one place that I find so clean and relaxing, it would be the CHMSC's admin building. Every offices has a cool ambiance that gives every office personnel a calm mood when they're on work. (Well, except maybe if the airconditioner is not working). Peace ICT 4th floor staff! Yes! You got it right! Because I work here. I was a student assistant before when I first discovered the greatness of this building. It possesed not only good physical facilities and appearance but it has smart and positive people who are good to surround yourself with. (Kaway-kaway da mga taga-Records kag PPDM)! Name all the big bosses of CHMSC and they spent more than hours of their day in the Admin building.
3. The Gym (Physical Fitness Perfect Place)
The CHMSC's gym environment always reminds me of our freshmen and sophomore days, in where it became the home of our precious, too-funny-to-remember P.E. memories. Right WHAMBEE? But Back to the main function of the gym, it is where dancers, athletes, and other physical fitness enthusiasist gathered to share one common goal: To show what CHMSCIANS got in the art world. Too many to count, am I correct dears?
4. Rizal (Dakilang Tambayan Of All CHMSCIANS)
When you are entering the school, just walk straight across to the left, continue walking, and when you suddenly realized that it was so quiet around you and you could hear the rustling sound of leaves and tress, there you are in the everybody's favorite tambaya: The Rizal-as most students called it. Back then in our early days in CHMSC, the place was only composed of plants and trees, benches, and two offices on the far end of the tambayan. The Research Development Services (RDS) and COA (Commission on Audit) office. The tambayan is like a backyard of the Alma Mater or in some other time it serves as a playground for every child-heart college students in which they filled the whole place of their loud giggles and funny dance steps. Hello sa mga ga-practice pirme sa Rizal! :)
What I love about this college is that: they never tolerate any bad behavior of their students inside the campus, nor letting them take classes for every subjects in which the students failed to passed. It would be automatic failure or drop on your transcript of records if you are one of those guys who don't treasure the importance of education, most especially because you are in a state college, and that gives you the name of "Mga Iskolar Ng Bayan."
6. Guidance Office (Home of Too-Good Looking Counselors and Too-Loud Guidance Buddies)
Currently headed by three, as I was saying on the title above, too-good-looking Counselors, Mrs. Ma. Luna C. De la Cerna, Sir Nick D. Alayon, and Mrs. Ma. Antonia Sitiota, this office holds a very special place in my heart. If wala guro ang guidance, ubos na kwarta namon during our thesis days! Special mention Ms. Ann and Ms. Jong! But honestly, this was the p[lace where we shared and created a special bond of friendship between Guidance Buddies, namely, Airen, Mae, Richard, Welson, Joenel, Kimui, Ms. Jong and Ms. Ruby. Hope to bond with you again guys! See you soon!
As I was writing these, I realized why CHMSC still has my heart: because this college has been part of my growing teenage years, witnessed my heartaches, pains, and misery, and the mirror that reflects what I am today: still continuing the improvement and advancement in all ways.
What can you say about this?
